Clip A - This clip is from Oceans 11 and it starts with them playing at a poker table with everybody around them in a circle and the lighting of this first part is under lighting because you can see the light coming from underneath. Another Thing about this is it follows the framing straight- on angle because they are talking to eachother and every shot is a medium shot so that it shows each person and what they are doing with their cars, money, and the emotions they have while gambling. Also it seams like the camera is hand held because it shakes alot making it feel like you are there with them. The editing in it is usually just normal cuts to each person talking but it also makes sure to follow the Axis of action, the 180 degrees rule when at the table. Then they use the Shot/reverse shot as conversations go down between the 2 main characters and others at the table. Finally they use Eyeline match as people watch how many chips or cards they are putting in.

Clip C - In this clip of silence of the lamb The biggest thing they use is cross cutting because they show two things happening at once, parrallel action. They show on one side the police going to the house and then on the other they show what the cerial killer is doing with his victim and the door bell rings when the Police ring it, but then the guy goes to the door and its someone else, so 2 things were happening in different places, but it made you think it was in the same place. There is also a low angle on the Cerial killer when he gets mad at the victim because she took his dog and it makes it feel llike you are the one looking up at him from the well. So over all it misleads the viewers inot thinking they found the killer, and it works because of the parrallel action that is going on.

Clip E - In this clip of Amadues it really goes into the music. it starts out with an old man playing music on a piano making that diegetic because it is in the actual story, but then he stops and starts pretending to conduct and non-diegetic music plays, this is music that the people in the story cant hear but adds to the clip by showing that he is conducting his own piece and it shows how wonderful it sounded, this is something he could not have done with just diegetic music. It also makes you feel what he is feeling at that moment when it even has a flashback to when he actually is conducting it. Also there is a straight- on angle of framing as they have their conversation while the editing is shot/reverse shot because they are having a conversation. Most of the lighting comes from the window behind the old guy making it Backlight.

Clip F - The biggest things in this are the pan shot and long take. The pan shot is how the camera turns in place almost to make it seam like you are turning your head to see where the boy is going. Then it becomes a long take because it follows behind the boy, but soon after that it goes back into the pan shot as it turns to look at the burning house. The lighting comes from the light outside and is never Hard light, it is mostley Backlighting and it is defused from the rain making it soft light. It is mostly a straight on angle to make it seam like your are look at them, like your there. and when you see the fire they use Deep space by showing a man close to the fire seem small and helpless and the closer is a woman watching the man and the fire and she looks a little bigger, and then the boy runs in looking the biggest at first but then goes next to the mom and although he is closest to the camera he still looks smallest show that although he helps the family and is mature he still needs his mother.

1. Kings Speech - The Kings Speech was definitly my favorite of these films. The camera angles were intersting through the whole movie. Such as when they view most of the rooms they make sure to really show the arcitecture and make every room seem big and intimidationg to the viewers. The actors were amazing in this especially Collin Firth because it is probubly hard to play a roll of someone who stutters when you dont stutter.Another great thing about this movie is how intense it gets even though you would think nothing exciting is going to happen. What is really intense about it is not knowing if hes going to get through his speaches or if he will mess up a lot, this really keeps you on the edge of your seat. Another great thing about this is the kings speech therapist because he treats him like a regular person and makes him look very silly, over all showin gthat royalty are just as good as ordinary people. This film was great and was made to win this Oscar.

2. Toy Story 3 - When most people see adds for Toy Story 3 they just say stuff like thats a kids movie or im not going to go see a cartoon! But this movie (although seaming like a childrens movie) is great for all ages and would not be as great as it is without it being an animated film. All the actors in this movie are well known and do a great job in trhis film. Anybody that sees this film will probubly love it and when i say anyone i mean anyone from the ages of 1-100 because even if your really young or very old you can relate to this movie. This movie is about moving on. Woody and all of his friends realize that Andy has grown to old for him and hes going to college now so he doesnt need them anymore, but woody does not accept this. He believes that him and his friends must be there for him and i believe anyone can relate to this because everybody was once a kid and all parents must deal with letting their kids go, which is exactly what woody has to do. In the end Woody lets go of Andy and is brought to a life with a new kid who he will be there for for a long time and him and his friends letting go will make anybody with a heart get teary eyed. Also this is a great adventure story of Woody trying to help his friends escape a very mafia/prison like place and has all of the traits of the monomyth through the movie. Over all it is a great movie that everybody would love.

3. Social Network - The Social Network was another great film based on a true story. A kid named mark goes through many things in making a website that actually changes the world. And surprisingly the acting was great, but unlike most of the other movies there were not any extremely famouse actors/actress', but they all still did a fantastic job playing their rolls. One thing about this film thats interesting and cool to watch is how smart everybody is in it. Sometimes in the movie you have no idea what they are talking about, but your still intreuged because it interests you to try and figure out what they are talking about. Another great thing about this film is there is a song that is played at important parts of the film that really adds to the over all greatness of the movie. Also what i thought was interesting about this was how different the peoples personalities were and how you still end up liking most of them. Theres mark on one end, who is considered an A hole, buit you still like him for his determination and how he really doesnt care about anything. And then on the other hand youve got Edwardo who is a great friend and fun. Other characters such as the twins or the woman lawer all have personalities that although much different are over great to watch.

4. True Grit - True Grit was another great movie, but it was a little slow. there were some parts where i was realizing that i was board and i was having trouble paying attention, but they made up for those scenes with great action scenes and incredible acting. Everybody knows Jeff Bridges and Matt Daemon who are 2 of the lead roles in True Grit and their performances are finominal. Jeff Bridges plays Rooster Cogburn and he is a prety mean man that is drunk alot and with that kind of character you would think you wouldnt like him, but thats wrong although he is mean, he is mean in a likable way because its funny how hes mean and over all he has good intensions at heart, especially when he carrys matty to save her. Then theres Matt Daemon, who plays La-Beef, who is a Texas Ranger and always telling people that hes the best. He can get annoying, but you cant help but like his determination. But these are not the best actors because a newcomming actor named Hailie Stienfeld, she plays Mattie who is the main character. Her performance is amazing, she plays a girl who is trying to avenge her father and she is the true person with True Grit in the end. Hercharacter is kinda annoying because shes so uptight and mean, but you have to admire her for her talent when this is her first movie. Another thing about this movie is its dramatic movie they put in funny lines or random funny things such as when theres the guy that yells random animal noises. Over all it is an incredibal western even if the main character can get on your nerves.

5. Inception - Inception was also a good movie but i dont think it is oscar material. Inception is a sci-fi where it is mostly just a bunch of action and although there is good acting it just isnt what i would picture as an Oscar movie. one incredible thing about this is the special effects of it though. Through the whole movie there are incredible scenes really showing how far we've come with creating movies as realistic looking as possible even if the things in the movie are very unrealistic. Another part thats cool about this movie is how confusing this is. this could be thought of as a bad thing but i believe it is good because it gives you a reason to watch it over and over again because every time you watch this movie again you learn things you didnt know before. Finally it has a good sense of teamwork in it. throughout the movie all of the people have to work together because they all have different jobs to do and without one of them it could put the rest of them in danger. This adds to the film because it makes you want to keep watching to know if everybody in the film will keep their part.

6. Winter's Bone - Winter's Bone comes last in my review of the Oscar's not because it is the worst movie, but just because its really slow. The whole movie goes at a slow pase that makes it the kind of movie im not a big fan of. But if i dont concider that part of this movie it is an incredible film. It is a great mystery and i really like that because it seems like you dont see very many of those anymore. Another thing i liked about this movie was how much of a thriller it was without it meaning to scare you. there were just so many scenes where the music, mood, and lighting made it very intense and you were scared for the man girl Ree. On the subject of Ree i would say that her performance was remarkable. She was just a teenage girl, but she had to support a whole family and that takes a toll on a person and she shows that in her character by showing how strong she is. So over all it is a good film with great acting, but i wish i would move a little faster.
